The Capri II was introduced in North America in late 1975 as a 1976 model. Differing from the Capri II introduced in Great Britain some time before, it came with the quad headlights as other US Federalized versions instead of single rectangular units.. It was based on the same chassis as the Capri, but with slightly wider rear track.
There were several special aftermarket bodykits and conversions sold by separate companies, including Rokstock.

This is a picture of my Capri II shortly after purchase in Seattle in 2002 for the sum of $1,000.
I was on an extended business trip from Texas...instead of renting a car for two months, I
purchased the Capri. It paid for itself and then I drove it home, saving airfare for two and having a fun-filled weeklong road trip with my 12 year old son.

ROAD TRIP HOME |

This
is my third Capri, my first Mk II, purchased in Seattle in 2002.
Flat black hood was the result of phone deal with previous owner to exchange
bent original hood with red hood from a parts car...when I got there to
pick it up, he had it off and had one coat of black on there, saying he
just couldn't bare to see the Capri leave with that red hood. |

A
few of design issues I wish to address with the Capri II:
Shortened
bumper idea....trim bumper along little crease in cover...
shorten bracket, clean up ridges along insert indent. Problem is it will
be difficult to mount the cover to the bumper underlay, but I figure an
aluminum bumper with flat top and using body tape for mounting should
work.
I
have found that the cheap plastic side marker light units can be replaced
with a minor amount of modification with earlier chrome metal pieces. |

Ok.
When I get in my Capri II, I feel 70's, not futuristic 70's. Gone for
now is the stock 2 spoke wheel and slick shift knob in favor of earlier
period items. This surely will pass when I get another late 60s, early
70s Muscle Car.
The
power bulge is just asking for something.
I found that a 70s Trans Am shaker could be a pretty good fit.
Actually a 70s Hemi Cuda shaker scoop looks like it might well be better.
Ford products?early 63 Tbird? 70-71 Torino GT?

Here's a look at how a Trans Am Shaker might look like grafted onto a MkII.
