The Ford Capri was Ford or Europe's answer to the Mustang. It was imported to the United States from 1969 through 1977 and offered in 4 cylinder and V6 forms.

Press Release copy:

1973 Capri V6 . With a two-year sales record unequalled by any other import, Capri enters 1973 with modest exterior changes, a larger standard engine and other refinements. Complete sporty instrumentation is standard on the Capri 2600 and optional on the Capri 2000.

Ford 1974 Mercury Capri 2800

RS2600 - Ford sold a special version of the Capri MkI bodystyle in Europe called the RS2600.
If you were into performance, you were into this one.

This is my Modified 1974 Capri from years ago, built on a tight budget
and a tight schedule in 1987, getting ready to move to Seattle.
Sad to say it never got completely finished.

1974 Capri 2.8 with decor group.
"Cat Tail", Custom fiberglass fender flares started life as 75 Toyota Corolla SR5 OEM parts.
Shaved emblems & trim. Late model Escort mirrors. Audi front side markers. Lowered, stiffened suspension w/extra rear leafs.
Nylon suspension bushings. Solid steering rack bush & joint. Chassis braces. Monte Carlo bar.
Mild, late model 2.8, massaged intake, large Motorcraft 2bbl, headers,
Ranger 5spd. 2" Dual exhaust with turbo mufflers & twin, same-side, exit pipes.
Trunk-mounted battery. 235-50-13 on 13x7" and 205-60-13 on 13x5.5". Yokohamas Y352s.
Ford Recaro late model seats. Small diameter steering wheel. Blaupundt Stereo (German of course).

For those who know Seattle, I lived out south of Issaquah, and the daily drive around Tiger Mounain
on the back highways was a blast in this car. Sold in Seattle in 1991 on a stupid whim to 'grow up'.

Working on the flares and trim.

These are the drawings of what I hoped to get to someday.
Obviously the car didn't quite get finished before real life took over,
moved halfway across the country, started my own company, kids, etc.

Keep in mind this was before I had ever seen a racing RS Capri or a Dobi catalog.
I still feel the round fender flares compliment the body. But now I don't think they
compare to true Cologne flares. Note center driving lights ala 67 Shelby below.
